Creating Discount Codes
Updated over 2 months ago

Discount codes can be created directly in your Flaviar-integrated Shopify store. This is intended to be self-service but please reach out to [email protected] if you need any help creating a discount code!

Discount codes can be used to offer free shipping, amount off certain products, or a discount on the entire order.

All discount codes created in your Shopify store will be billed back via our discount code chargeback policy. See more here.

Important Note: We currently do not support BUY X GET Y discount codes as they are not compatible with our platform and may create a fulfillment bug when used. Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

How to Create a Discount Code in Shopify

Offering discount codes is a great way to encourage sales and reward your customers. Shopify makes it easy to create and manage these codes. Follow the steps below to create a discount code for your store.

  1. Log in to Your Shopify Admin Panel

  2. Navigate to the Discounts Section

    • In the Shopify admin, on the left-hand sidebar, click Discounts.

    • Once in the Discounts section, click the Create discount button.

  3. Choose the Discount Type

    1. Amount off products

    2. Buy X get Y - Please do not use - this is not compatible with Flaviar Checkout at this time.

    3. Amount off order

    4. Free Shipping

  4. Select the Discount Code Method

    • Shopify offers different types of discounts:

      • Discount Code: This allows customers to manually input a code at checkout.

      • Automatic Discount: Applied automatically at checkout when specific conditions are met.

  5. Set the Discount Code

    • Select Discount code if you want to create a code that customers can apply during checkout.

    • Enter the code that customers will use. It can be anything, such as "SUMMER20" or "SAVE10."

  6. Choose the Discount Type

    • You can offer discounts in the following ways:

      • Percentage Discount: E.g., 10% off an order.

      • Fixed Amount Discount: E.g., $5 off the order total.

      • Free Shipping: Removes shipping costs for eligible orders (may not be an option for all discount code types.)

  7. Apply the Discount To:

    • Entire Order: The discount applies to the whole cart.

    • Specific Products/Collections: You can limit the discount to certain products or collections. Click Browse to select the specific items or collections.

  8. Set the Minimum Requirements

    • You can specify if customers need to meet certain criteria to use the discount, such as:

      • Minimum purchase amount (e.g., $50 or more)

      • Minimum quantity of items (e.g., buy 3 items)

  9. Customer Eligibility

    • Choose whether the discount applies to:

      • Everyone: Open to all customers.

      • Specific Customer Groups: Only for specific customer segments or email lists.

  10. Set the Usage Limits

    • Limit Number of Times: You can limit how many times a discount can be used, e.g., once per customer or a total of 100 uses across all customers.

    • Limit to One Use Per Customer: This restricts each customer to use the code only once.

  11. Set the Active Dates

    • In the Active dates section, set when the discount code should start and end. You can make it available immediately or schedule it for the future.

    • If desired, add an end date for the discount code to automatically expire after a certain time.

  12. Select your Sales channels

    • Make sure Barcart or Flaviar Checkout is selected in the sales channel section.

  13. Review and Save the Discount

    • Double-check the details of your discount code to make sure everything is correct.

    • Click Save to activate the discount code.
