Meta Pixels help you track conversions, optimize ads, and build custom audiences based on site visitors. Here’s a step-by-step guide to set up Meta Pixels for Shopify users, whether you are using Shopify as your website platform or just using Shopify Buy Buttons on non-Shopify sites.

Section 1: For Brands Using Shopify to Build Their Site

  1. Access Your Meta Ads Manager

    • Log in to your Meta Ads Manager.

    • In the top left corner, click on the Events Manager.

  2. Create a New Pixel

    • Click the Connect Data Sources button.

    • Choose Web and click Get Started.

    • Select Meta Pixel and name your pixel (e.g., YourBrandNamePixel).

    • Enter your website URL and click Continue.

  3. Add the Pixel to Your Shopify Store

  4. Verify Your Pixel

    • After saving, return to the Events Manager in Meta.

    • Use the Test Events feature by entering your Shopify store URL and clicking Open Website.

    • Perform actions on your website (e.g., add items to the cart) to check if the pixel is capturing events.

  5. Set Up Event Tracking (Optional)

    • You can configure additional tracking events (e.g., Add to Cart, Purchase) in the Events Manager by selecting Add Events and following the prompts for enhanced conversion tracking.

Section 2: For Brands Using Shopify Buy Buttons on Non-Shopify Sites

    • Enter the URL of the website where the Buy Button will be placed and click Continue.

  3. Install the Meta Pixel on Your Non-Shopify Website

    • Copy the Pixel code generated in the Meta Events Manager.

    • Access your non-Shopify website's backend (e.g., WordPress, Square Space, or custom HTML).

    • Paste the Pixel code into the <head> section of your website.

  4. Test and Verify the Pixel

    • In Meta's Events Manager, use the Test Events feature by entering the URL of your non-Shopify site.

    • Perform actions (e.g., clicking the Buy Button) to ensure the Pixel is capturing events and interactions.

Common Troubleshooting Tips:

  • Pixel Not Firing: Ensure the pixel is installed in the correct section of your site’s code and that no other conflicting code exists.

  • Events Not Capturing: Use the Meta Pixel Helper Chrome extension to debug any installation issues.
